Hours (planning)

Description
Once a year we make a family trip all together, my sisters, my parents and I, we always prepare the visits in advance and this year I was especially excited to prepare the visit to Cambridge because it is the city that houses one of my favorite universities.
Planning
For this project it was necessary to make plans in advance as it was necessary to look for schedules of the museum, prices and schedules of the public transports, to study a little of the history of the city, of the colleges of the university and funny anecdotes.
Activity Assessment
Learning more about the history of Cambridge and its University has made me feel a deep respect for the institution and for all the excellent scientists who studied there. It was exciting to walk through its streets, have a refreshment at The Eagle, practice on the Cam River and sail to the same waters as Charles Darwin, Alan Turing, James Chadwick, Ernest Rutherford.... it makes me even more eager to continue my studies, to try harder on the short-term goals so I can be prepared for a future that I find incredible.

Hours

Description
On Thursday, October 8th, the first and second class of students of international baccalaureate went to Sitges, a town located near Barcelona, because the Fantastic Cinema Festival was celebrated. First, we went to visit the Cau Ferrat Museum.
Planning
In this case, it was the professors who recommended this visit in the interest of the contest. The method of transport was the train.
Activity Asessment
This activity was one of the first ones we did all together. It was fun and very interesting for the films that were in theatres that year. Fantastic and horror cinema is not one of my favorites but I really enjoyed the visit to The Museum of Cau Ferrat that was founded in 1893 by the artist Santiago Rusiñol (1861-1931) as a house-workshop and became a public museum in 1933, preserving the artistic spirit bestowed upon it by its founder. It contains collections of ancient art gathered by the artist (painting, wrought iron, ceramics, glass, archaeology, sculpture and furniture) as well as modern art (painting, drawing, sculpture) with works by Rusiñol, Casas, Picasso, R. Pichot, Mas i Fontdevila, Zuloaga, Regoyos and Degouwe de Nucques, Enric Clarasó, Manolo Hugué, Pau Gargallo among others.
WINDSURFING RACE

Hours
6hrs
Description
The N2 Windsurf regattas is a competition that takes place every month during the regatta season to get points in the ranking. This regatta was organized by the Hospitalet Vandellós Yacht Club and 52 sailors participated. The competition consisted of four events on Saturday and Sunday. For scheduling reasons I was only able to participate in the event on Sunday.
Planning
To plan my participation in this event was to register for the regatta in an official way through the internet website prepared for it. It is necessary to have the federative sports license of the Catalan Sailing Federation. I also checked my windsurfing material, board, sail, boom, etc. to see if it was in proper condition. To go there we met with other participants to go in the same vehicle and I prepared food and snacks so I could feed during the test as it normally takes all day.
Activity Assessment
It was the first race where I participated and I was very nervous, but thanks to my coach and my teammates I was able to go out to the water with more confidence. Understanding the signals of the water committee and the judges was very instructive and although sometimes I doesn’t know very well where to go, I had a lot of fun.
JUDO WORKSHOP
19th October 2018
Location
INS Gabriel i Ferrater Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/dNLdiaG7hdQmzrGDA
Hours
8hrs
Description
After doing some research to see what I could do in PE class, I decided I would teach a judo class. Since it is a sport that I love and having practiced for more than five years I have the confidence to be able to make a strength class interesting to my classmates.
My main objectives were to make known this oriental discipline, which makes it important and different from the others.
Teach some judo formalities, like greetings in Japanese at the beginning of class when you enter the tatami or at the beginning of a fight.
Make a demostration of how a kimono lands, and its function during combat.
Teach the rules and regulations in the practice of this Eastern discipline.
We did the activity in the gym.
Planning
I planned this activity in several phases to prepare a fun and educational session.
First the heating circuit will be made because they enter in heat. To the circuit they will jump the fences with their feet together, they will jump from circle to circle with their feet together and , they will pass by the bench balancing and also by the wooden taulo they will try to keep it from falling. Finally they will dodge the obstacles to improve agility. When the whole class is finished I will take you to the tatami, teach you to say hello and how you would have to put yourselves if this were an ordinary class. After a little introduction to judo, I’ll show you how to pose a kimono asked for a volunteer and tell you the rules you need to know for today. Taking advantage that I have all your attention it will be here when I will show you the simplest keys and the basic immobilizations.
Activity Assessment
The class was strength well. I followed the guide that I had prepared and little by little all the planned activities were carried out. As if I hadn’t played this sport in a few years, I had to search for videos and re-search my memory for some games and ways to make the class more enjoyable. Because I had time I went to the yard to prepare everything. I had a great time, and the one I was told, my teammates also enjoyed strength. One drawback that arose was that they were odd and there was always at some point someone who could not do the practice, but it was an opportunity to observe from another point of view the activity.
CASTANYADA
31st October 2018
Hours
3hrs
Location
Altafulla
https://goo.gl/maps/YC2cU99zsedgRwux6
Description
The "Castanyada" is a traditional festival that involves eating roast chestnuts and "panellets" ( especial almonds balls covered by pine nuts). We usually celebrate it the 31th of october. It seems that the tradition of eating these foods comes from the fact thar during de All Saints' night, bell ringers would ring bells in commemoration of the dead into the early morning. Friends and relatives would help with this task, and everyone eat these foods for sustenance.
Planning
In my home we usually plan this day with great enthusiasm as we love chestnuts. We go to find firewood to the forest near my home and buy all the ingredients to bake the "panellets". We need sugar, grated lemon peel, ground almonds, pine nuts, potato.
Activity Assessment
I love cooking with my family, preparing the barbecue to cook the chestnuts and preparing the newspaper cartridges to keep them warm. We always laugh when someone eats a chestnut that is very burnt or that doesn't taste good and is like a family tradition that I hope can do for many more years.
MEMORYIMAGE ( LGBT TALK AND VIDEO)
November 11th
Location
Teatre Bartrina, Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/YUC1RXpK1mgDrmuW9
Hours
4h
Description
Second-year students of International Baccalaureate attended one of the sessions that the Bartrina Theater offered to celebrate the XIV International Film Festival in Reus. The memoryimage we saw was titled Out by Denis Parrot .....
Planning
This activity was organized by the
Gabriel i Ferrater Institute. We all walked together at 11:45 a.m to the Theatre.
Activity Assessment
Watching the recordings I could reflect on how complicated it is and the effort that many young people make public their sexual orientation as if they had to justify themselves to society. I do not think we need to make our sexual condition public since it is within our privacy. I just hope that one day it will normalize.
Going to cultural events is always interesting but in this case, it was even more for the topic to be treated.

We reserve in the restaurant a small lunch to replenish after the exercise.
Activity assessment
I feel lucky because I have a very big family and when we get together we have a lot of fun. We live far away so we can see each other every day, but we create any excuse to see each other and throw a good party. My birthday could not be less! I have 12 uncles and aunts and 14 cousins and 4 grandparents, a wonderful one!

Hours
4hrs
Planning
My family and me were planning how to decorate the Christmas tree and who this year was to place the star at the top, that fortunately touched to me.
We spent a while looking for the boxes of all the Christmas ornaments we had kept from the last year. And testing the lights to make sure they all worked properly before hanging up.
Activity Assessment
Who doesn’t like Christmas? When we start opening the boxes of the decoration it is similar to the feeling when you open a new book , or the first day of school, full of illusion of expectations and good intentions. It is kind of relaxing decorate the tree, or prepare the socks. It gives me a kind of peace that I can’t explain. Christmas is a time where you can take stock of the year that is coming to an end and make plans for the new year, be with family and spend time with others.

Description
On Saturday, February 2, the class of 1st course of the IB Program visited the Conference of Extended Essay, organized by the University of Navarre. Through different specific workshops, the students were able to delve into the most appropriate methodologies and strategies to properly develop the extended essay, a compulsory and specific work of the international baccalaureate, with an academic and rigorous aspect.
Planning
Most of the planning was carried out by our teachers in order to coordinate the purchase of train tickets with the group discount. We had to prepare different questions and a list of doubts about the monograph work so that they can be solved in the differents workshops.
Activity Assessment
As all students of the international baccalaureate program will know, the preparation of the extended essay work is one of our main concerns. Attending these workshops helped me a lot to understand what they were asking for, to focus the topic and to start thinking about my own.
Besides that, the city of Pamplona is beautiful and noble, with great avenues and a great student atmosphere.

ST. JORDI DESSERT WORKSHOP
April 2019
Location
INS Gabriel i Ferrater Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/6YnDQemPxHQY7nTE9
Hours
6hrs
Description
First of all St Jordi or St George is a festivity that everybody loves and celebrates with enthusiasm every year. Everything started with the tale where a courageous warrior named George (Jordi in Catalonia) saved a princess from an evil dragon and with the roses that grew from the monster's blood, he gained the love from the beautiful princess. If we mix this tradition with the International Day of the Book we end up with the festivity St Jordi in Catalonia, where couples give each other roses and books to show their love.
This year our Institute told us to do some activity in order to bring people together and we decided to do a dessert workshop where we teached how to make waffles and donuts.
Planning
A couple of weeks ahead of the festival we decided to search an activity that everyone will enjoy. After some brainstorming we ended up choosing something related to cooking. If we wanted to cook something delicious in a really short time we only could decide waffles and donuts...and everybody loves them!
We planned everything carefully, from buying the ingredients that we needed in order to do the activity to search for the machines capable to cook them and organize the different groups of students that wanted to attend our workshop.
Activity Assessment
We learned that it requires a lot of team work, patience and leadership in order to organize an activity like that for different groups of teenagers!
Although we found it difficult at the beginning we enjoyed the activity as much as the ones who was the activity for.
ACROBATIC WORKSHOP
June 2019
Location
INS Gabriel i Ferrater Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/6YnDQemPxHQY7nTE9
Hours
2hrs
Description
Acrobatic gymnastics is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform figures consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music. There are three types of routines; a 'balance' routine (at FIG grade 5 and above) where the focus is on strength, poise and flexibility; a 'dynamic' routine (also FIG grade 5 and above) which includes throws, somersaults and catches, and (at FIG grade 6 and above, as well as grade 4 and below) a 'combined' routine which includes elements from both balance and dynamic.
A classmate of mine decided to do a class in P.E. with this sport as the main topic.
Planning
Because we are not professionals my classmate printed some postures and handed them to us. The pictures of the acrobatic postures were organized based in the level of difficulty and in the number of people needed to do them.
Activity Assessment
I could define with one word what you need to overcome the hardships of this activity and that word is teamwork. Not only I learned a new sports discipline but also I deepened the friendship with my classmates. Finally I want to say that I feel thankful for my friend who organized everything. Because not everyday a someone organizes an aerobic class for you to enjoy!
CPR COURSE
July 2019
Location
Altafulla Yacht Club
https://g.page/cmaltafulla?share
Description
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is performed on people who have stopped breathing and do not have a pulse. It is vital in life-threatening situations like a drowning accident or cardiac arrest. The aim of CPR is to compress the chest and heart so that blood can be pumped to the brain, albeit weakly.
Planning
I planned this course to take place in our class because I find it of vital importance to know how to save a person’s life if possible.
Because last year I attended a CPR course and I found it an amazing experience I wanted to give my classmates the opportunity to have it.
I called the same professional who had teached me the course last year and she agreed to do it once again for my friends.
We learned to identificate when to do a cpr or not and the technique to do it when needed.
Activity Assessment
You may think that memorizing this skills is not a hard task to do, but it requires a lot of concentration and the will to want to be useful in case a threatening situation happens. Now I feel more confident if a dangerous situation happens because I know what to do in each case.
"CASTELLERS" ALTAFULLA
August 2019
Location
"Castellers" Club Altafulla
https://goo.gl/maps/KYH5UN4x7fmWRWjV8
Hours
12hrs
Description
In the middle of my town a trembling tower of purple clad bodies rises tier by tier, the broad-backed men at the base sweating and shaking under its weight, until the tiny girl shimmies to the summit and raises her arm in victory. It’s a terrifying spectacle, but one of which its fearless participants, or castellers, are tremendously proud, for castell building is central to Catalan culture.
The Catalan tradition of building human towers or castells (the Catalan word for ‘castle’) originated in Valls, near the city of Tarragona in Catalonia, an autonomous community of Spain with its own distinct language and culture. Since the 1980s the phenomenon has become increasingly popular and widespread, and colles (or ‘clubs’) have now been established throughout Catalonia and even in the Balearic Islands. In 2010, the castells were classified by UNESCO as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Now that you know what is the art of building human towers or doing castells is easier for me to explain what I tried with a friend.
Planning
Every friday for a month I wanted to have the experience to be in a Castellers Club. So I decided to join the one in my town (Altafulla). They teached me the proper way to climb a person and also how to keep the stability of the tower while descending. Because of my weight I ended up being in the middle of the tower. I practice really hard in the rehearsals in order to be selected to do something in the real festivals.
Activity Assessment
Teamwork is the key in order to build a human tower. I spended a lot of time memorizing every position in the tower. At the beginning I had to learn with the little kids and that was kind of frustrating. But as the hours went by, I realized that more people were helping me get into the group and be familiar with this world.
VOLUNTEERING IN THE "EL DESAFÍO" PATÍ CATALÀ RACE
August 2019
Location
Altafulla Yacht Club
https://g.page/cmaltafulla?share
Hours
6hrs
Description
I offered to help the Water Committee in the Patí Català Race called El Desafio (The Challenge).
First of all Patín a vela, also known as Patín catalán or Catalan catamaran , is a class of boat "one-design" of dinghy sailing with a single crew member. Characterized by being a catamaran with a single sail of type marconi without boom and the peculiarity of not having rudder nor centreboard. The steering of the boat is carried out with the movement and distribution of the weight of the skipper along the length and width of the deck of the ship and with the sheet, which holds the sail. It is specially designed to be used on the beach, this is the reason for not having centreboard or rudder.
Our Maritime Club has annually this competition against the Nautic Club in Torredembarra (our nearest town). This year I was excited to help in any possible way and the organization team decided that I would be helpful in the Water Comitee.
The Water Committee is in charge of giving the starting line and also controls the final positions and that nobody cheats.
Planning
I had to be with them from early in the morning to late in the evening. We prepared all the whistles, ropes and sailing flags as well as our provisions because we knew that the time we would be in the sea was not going to be short. We also checked if all the documentation from the participants was right.
Activity Assessment
I had to learn the meaning of the sailing flags in these kind of competitions really fast because if not I wouldn’t be of any help. That was a chaotic day but I had so much fun in the Water Committee boat. I got to see how a professional and the judges work. They teached me so many things about the sailing world that I could not be more grateful to volunteer in this race! Having patience, initiative and know how to work in teams are very important attributes while volunteering in this kind of activity.
SAILING LESSON
October 2019
Location
Altafulla Yacht Club
https://g.page/cmaltafulla?share
Hours
2hrs
Description
I gave a free 15 Catamaran sailing lesson to my dad friends.
Planning
I taught how to prepare the boat to sail, which sail pick depending on how strong is the wind, the ropes to choose, how to properly wear the lifejacket, what to do in case of an emergency, the different winds and the different positions that the boat can take, how to adjust the sails...
In order to have an appropriate lesson I chose a calm and sunny day by checking the weather forecast and I ensured our boat too.
Activity Assessment
Having patience and know how to give a dynamic but profitable sailing class is the balance every sailing monitor has to have. Because they were my dad’s friends I was really nervous but at the end I learned that you can not evaluate how good is a lesson by how many new concepts to can teach someone, but instead you can measure the quality of the time by seeing the happiness and excitement in their faces.
"GRAN RECAPTE"
November 2019
Location
Carrefour Shop Reus
https://g.page/carrefour-reus?share
Hours
4hrs
Description
“The Gran Recapte d'Aliments” in Catalonia is a campaign to collect basic food to ensure that the neediest people in our environment receive food aid; It also serves to publicize the situation that this group is going through, as a result of the economic crisis that we are experiencing. The campaign is carried out simultaneously by the four “Bancs dels Aliments de Catalunya” (Food Banks of Catalonia).
Planning
After the organization accepted our request to volunteer this year in the “Gran Recapte” campaign in a specific mall in Reus we got in contact with the representative of our group and made sure that we didn’t need to bring anything for the day of the food collection.
When the day arrived they gave us an uniform and explained the plan to try to collect us much food as possible from the customers of the mall.
Activity Assessment
It is estimated that currently, 20% of the population lives in poverty in Catalonia. These people require our solidarity and our organizational capacity to avoid becoming marginalized people. And it is with this objective that the project is launched by the “Bancs dels Aliments”, which this year has already reached the tenth edition.
Solidarity, abnegation and humility I think that are what is needed the most in this kind of event. Sharing with who has nothing is rewarding in every kind of way.
MARATÓ TV3
December 2019
Location
INS Gabriel i Ferrater Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/6YnDQemPxHQY7nTE9
Hours
10hrs
Description
La Marató de TV3 is an annual telethon broadcast by Televisió de Catalunya and the Fundació La Marató de TV3 to raise funds for scientific research into diseases which are currently incurable. But La Marató de TV3 is more than just a fund-raising drive. It also informs the Catalan public about these diseases and explains the need for research aimed at preventing and curing them. Just as important as the money raised by the telethon are the scientific publications, the awareness-raising, and public education in scientific questions.
Planning
Our school hosted a meeting to talk about these minority diseases and as the awareness of the situation increased our motivation to plan an activity to raise funds also increased.
We planned a solidarity walk. We were really excited but al the end we couldn’t do it do to the rain. At the end instead of the walk we decided to host an activity that involved all the students. So we did. We create a big sum sign with everybody rising a paper in a specific way.
Activity Assessment
It was kind of sad that we didn’t do the solidarity walk but at the end we were able to change the activity and still rise funds for the foundation. The creativity of the activity and the team work needed to do it created a really nice mood were everybody felt that was the day to do a good deed.

Description
The "You're Missing It" campaign promotes women's sports in the media
The initiative, launched by the CAC with the support of, among others, the CCMA, aims to increase and improve the spaces dedicated to women's sports in the media.
The catalan hashtag for this campaign is #t’hoestasperdent ande I participated in one of the promotion videos for this campaign.
Planning
During a windsurf training all the girls in the team decided to participate in this campaign by doing a video hiding half of our face with the hand. The meaning of this sign is related to the slogan of the campaign “if you don't watch women’s sport you're missing out on half the show”.
Activity Assessment
I hope that one day we won’t need this kind of campaigns because women’s sport won’t need any kind of support.
ST. JORDI GUESS THE SONG WORKSHOP

Hours
4hrs
Description
This year St Jordi is a festivity where we are all fighting against the global pandemic of COVID-19. For this reason all of the activities that were organized had been online.
Planning
I participated in the one where you had to write a letter for those who are fighting the most in these dark times. like the health personnel or the people who got the virus. My letter won the English competition and that made me really happy. I wanted to share their burdens and willpower to as many people as possible.
In the other hand my friend and I created a song contest online in order to bring people together no matter their age in this time. Some teachers even joined us!
We choose carefully the songs from different movies, series and bands. At the beginning of the contest we put easy songs but as the activity was coming to an end the songs were almost impossible to guess. Is not that easy to become the winner guys!
Activity Assessment
It was really interesting to see how a lot of teachers came to our contest and enjoyed as much as the students. And for us the planning of the activity was done meticulously, thinking of everybody’s taste in music.

Teamwork is also important among family members in order to get it done in the most efficient way. Sincerely I had a wonderful time!
GARDENING

Hours
3hrs
Description
Gardening is the practice of growing and cultivating plants as part of horticulture. In gardens, ornamental plants are often grown for their flowers, foliage, or overall appearance; useful plants, such as root vegetables, leaf vegetables, fruits, and herbs, are grown for consumption, for use as dyes, or medical or cosmetic use. Gardening is considered by many people to be a relaxing activity.
Planning
Even in quarantine we wanted to try to stay positive by doing something like gardening. With the change of seasons is important to renovate the earth of the different pots. We bought flowers of many kinds of colors, shapes and aromatic scents. Finally with all the gardening tools in our garden table we were ready to transform our terrace!
Activity Assessment
As we enjoy a lot this kind of activity we are also conscious about the extreme care that the flowers and other plants need. I needed to be very organize and patient in order to be able to create the best garden possible.
