VOLUNTEERING IN "CÀRITAS"
From october 2018 to sept 2019
Location
Caritas Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/qsh5U9XQBCcGhXCG7
Hours
72 hrs
Description
What's "Càrites"?The word Caritas is a term that comes from the Latin Charitas (Charity) and means love. In his First Letter Saint John clearly expresses the heart of the Christian faith when he says "Deus Caritas est (God is Love)".
Thus Caritas is the official institution of the Catholic Church for the realization of charitable and social action at its various levels.
This project consists of dedicating every Wednesday afternoon helping in the center of the Càritas organization in Reus, my main task was to classify all the clothes that was donated to the center , check which was in good condition and clean, Fold it and spread it over the shelves. It also catered to customers entering the store and helped them find what they needed.
Planning
Planning this activity required a lot of organization as many students were interested in participating as volunteers in the charity organization. I set up a whatsapp group with everyone interested so I could cover every afternoon. I had to take into account that students from other courses were also involved in this volunteer project so that we wouldn’t all meet on the same day. Once the weekly program was done, we could begin.
Activity Assessment
Participating in this project could not have been more rewarding. Sharing those evenings with the store managers, listening to their experiences and learning from their great kindness has been one of the most intense experiences of this course.
SMART PHONE TECHNOLOGY COURSE FOR SENIORS
From November 2018 to November 2019
Location
Casal Social Reus
https://g.page/EsplaiReus?share
Hours
52 hrs
Description
The Obra Social "la Caixa" is the set of social actions carried out by the Fundación Bancaria "la Caixa". Until October 2014, these actions were carried out by the "la Caixa" Foundation (Fundación Caja de Ahorros y Pensiones de Barcelona), a non-profit organization created in 1904 by the Caja de Ahorros y Pensiones de Barcelona ("la Caixa"), which was dedicated to managing the resources of La Caixa’s social work. Among the many projects and social activities they organise are courses for seniors to update their knowledge of new technologies. The course where I actively participated for 1 hour two Fridays each month was to explain to the olders how attended the applications of smart phones, from setting up the mail to how to send a whatsapp or make a video call with their relatives.
Planning
The students of my High School participated every year with the "Fundació La Caixa" in the courses and workshops they promoted and they were the ones who explained to my class what it was and how it worked to know if any of us wanted to collect the witness for the next course. Obviously many of us agreed and organized shifts so that all the workshops and courses were covered by volunteers.
Activity Assessment
It has been a great experience to offer older people the possibility to maintain an active role in society, to help them understand new technologies and to be able to communicate with their sons and grandchildren with the same means they use. The relationship I have established with the grandparents who attended the course every Friday has been fun, exciting, full of patience ( for my part) and very, very pleasant as the progress they made each week felt like mine and filled me with joy. Listening to his anecdotes, his memories and experiences from another time made me enjoy every day and every hour I devoted to this project.

"Talent jove" (Young Talent).
What is Young Talent? It is a program that has as its objective the realization of a serious of workshops that will allow to offer advanced knowledge on a set of scientific subjects to young people of 1st and 2nd of high school courses with good academic capacities and specially motivated. It is a program of high educational and scientific requirements.
It proposes the acquisition of scientific knowledge at a higher level than the school baccalaureate programme.
It provides complementary and advanced training to cultivate and enhance students' scientific talents.
The URV ( Rovira i Virgili University) starts this program with a pilot action related to Physics and Mathematics. Tha classes were every saturday from 10h to 13h.
Planning
I searched on internet all the possibilities to improve my knowleges about physics and I found this amazing program of Rovira i Virgili University at Tarragona. First at all I had to take a level test to be able to apply to be a student of the program. There were a number of requirements to participate:
1.- Be a student of 1st or 2nd grade of high school in a center of the province of Tarragona.
2.- Pass a level test in Physics and Mathematics to be held at the Faculty of Chemistry and if necessary, hold an interview that will take place at the Campus Cataluña.
3.- Be a student to have excellently surpassed the subjects of Physics and Mathematics.
Luckily I passed all the tests and can enjoy the advanced classes for an entire course.
Activity Assessment
This project allowed me to enjoy university professors who made me expand my passion for physics and in particular particle physics. Sharing those hours of study, though hard, very rewarding, with colleagues from all over the province of Tarragona and that we had common goals and interests enriched my vocabulary of the matter, my desire to continue learning and created new goals for the future that make me want to fly to more university programs.

Workshop organized by a social club near my town ( Club Tenis Tarragona), designed for girls from 13 years old. This workshop was on their agenda for winter social activities and the main objective was to teach women how to defend themselves against a possible attack. The sessions were held every Thursday from 20h to 21:30h
Planning
Planning this project was quick and easy as the publicity for the workshop came to me through some friends who were members of this Club. I was very interested from the beginning and I only had to register, fill out a health form and pay the corresponding fee.
Activity Assessment
It really has been a workshop that has helped me to know my strengths and weaknesses, It has also made me more confident and aware of possible dangerous situations where I can be involved without pretending just only beeing a woman and to walk alone in a city.
"LLAGUT" REGATTA TEAM
From April 2019 to June 2019
Location
Cambrils Yacht Club
https://goo.gl/maps/nrDBwWvgZre8dK6p7
Description
A Llagut is a wooden boat, often with Latin sailing apparatus, but not necessarily. Today many of these boats have been motorized. Lutes are often propelled with oars.
To the sea, it was going with crews of five, seven or nine men, in open llaguts, of less than ten meters of length, that rigged the Latin sail, to take advantage of the wind and the force of the oars to go to the fishing ground or to flee from the storm
The llaguts were built and repaired by sugar and cauliflower masters. Along the coast there were small shipyards on the beaches where azuela teachers worked to build all kinds of bastions, in a very artisanal and own way, the result of knowledge and practices transmitted from parents to children. They made solid boats and very sailors, without plans, with an accumulated experience that provided the craft with a recognizable style.
Planning
In Catalonia the Llaguts have recovered to be part of sports teams that compete every year in very specific regattas. The trainings were held on Sundays from 16h to 19h in the marina of Cambrils. The mother of one of my classmates named Alicia, was the helmsman of a regatta group and told me that she was needing a member for the team, I signed up without thinking because I like water sports very much. The first trainings were hard because I wasn’t used to the rowing exercise but after a few days my arms didn’t hurt so much and I could start enjoying the training.
Activity Assessment
Being a member of a team is always satisfying, doing outdoor sport and in a medium that I love is even better. Get to know the other members of the team in order to be able to row in style, keep up with the pace of the rowing and understand this sport with such a special boat and with so much tradition
was amazing. Planning the strategies of the final race, defining the design of the team’s shirts and winning the race was the finishing touch of this wonderful experience.
VOLUNTEERING IN ANIMAL WELFARE
From May 2019 to July 2019
Location
Protectora Torredembarra
https://goo.gl/maps/H7kmpaGaZzECTnDFA
Hours
65 hrs
Description
My volunteering in Animal Welfare consist of taking care of dogs from time to time before the welfare finds them a new home. Sometimes the dogs stay more than just a weekend, but normally we keep them and take care of them only for the weekend. Other times my family and I also visit the center and play with the animals for a bit or take them for a long walk.
Planning
Basically they have a planner of who in the week is in charge of taking care of each animal. Sometimes it has modifications in the last minute because is really difficult to find someone who can take care of a certain number of dogs for more than a couple of days.
There will be days that we are in charge to feed them, to take them for a walk, to shower them or just to play with them.
Because my sisters and I want to do everything, we also have a planner at home, of who is in charge to take care of them.
Activity Assessment
The first time that we collaborated with the Animal Welfare was through a friend of my mother who has a close relationship with the owner of the center. She asked us if we could keep at home two puppies for a weekend. We fell in love with them! We knew that we couldn’t keep them because we also had our own dog but we wanted to do this kind of activity again. Because we believe that the animals can also feel lonely and no one deserves that. Every animal in the Welfare need as much love and attention as everybody else. I especially feel grateful to have the opportunity to work together with the kindest people in order to build a small family with those animals.
SECRET SANTA
January 2019
Location
INS Gabriel i Ferrater Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/dNLdiaG7hdQmzrGDA
Hours
2 hrs
Description
This activity consist of giving an original gift to your “invisible friend”. To decide this special friend we make a random draw with the names of all the people in our class. The name in the piece of paper that your draw is the one that you will give a present after a month or so. Our class always does this activity after Christmas’ holidays.
Planning
Each one of us tries to do a handmade gift or buy a creative one. When is the final day we put all of the presents on a table and we start a chain of gifts where the person who received the gift is the next one to give his/her present to his/her Secret Santa. Is kind of funny, because at the beginning nobody has to know who is the person that has to give them the present. Finally when you discover who is this enigmatic person you always get surprised.
Activity Assessment
Because you can’t ask the person in question about their ideal gift, you have to be really clever, creative and an attentive person in order to surprise your invisible friend. This activity has teach me about what my friends like and dislike. Sometimes you have to be more attentive and not so self-centered in order to get to know properly someone.
BIRTHDAY CAKES
2018-2019
Location
INS Gabriel i Ferrater Reus
https://goo.gl/maps/dNLdiaG7hdQmzrGDA
Hours
3hrs
Description
Birthday Cakes is an activity where one person gets to cook another one their birthday cake. We all eat it in the dining room after the important person of the day blows the candles. We may not be experimented singers but we also sing the happy birthday song with award smiles and most commonly lots of laughs.
Planning
At the beginning of the year we made a list of all the birthdays of the people in class following the order of the months. The person that is located after you in the list is the one that has to cook your birthday cake. For the people that have their birthday date in holidays or in a long weekend we decided to put their Saint’s name day. So everybody gets their cake.
Activity Assessment
I enjoyed cooking for others who are not my family a lot. The fact that you are making it from scratch, and not buying it in the supermarket means a lot for you and for the other person. You discover more about the person you are cooking for and about your other classmates as well. Things like the flavor they like or who is the best cook among us may not be really important but this activity has helped us to build or friendship even more.
VISITING AMSTERDAM
September 2019
Location
Amsterdam
https://goo.gl/maps/gRqLY8b9rToNYiG26
Hours
45hrs
Description
All of my class got to travel to Holland for four days and three nights as our graduation trip. We visited the capital, Amsterdam, where we also slept in one of the most comfortable hostels in the world, Clinknoord. The location is also good because we were in the center of the city. We also visited The Hague where we got the pleasure to go inside the Mauritshuis with the most important paintings of Vermeer in a once a year exposition. In the Hague we also visited the headquarters of the International Baccalaureate where we tried to discover how this world that we got into works. In Amsterdam we went to the Jewish Quartier, the cinema museum The Eye and also the Rijksmuseum, where the most important sculptures and paintings in Holland are being taken care of.
Planning
The visit itself was entirely programmed by our class. We organized the topics by groups and individually. At the end, each one of us got to explain the history of the architecture in Amsterdam, some paintings, the history of the Hague or even an introduction to the Jewish museums...
I was in charge of explaining and guiding our group from Begijnhof to the Red light district, describing an Avercamp painting (Winter Landscape with Ice Skater) in the Rijksmuseum and telling the story of the famous painting of the Girl with a Pearl Earring by Vermeer.
Activity Assessment
Overall the Holland experience has been one of my favourites. Because it was in september (before the start of the course) we were in the perfect mood to taste our last days of freedom. The fact that we were our own tourist guides made us aware of how difficult is to get everyone’s attention and be able to deliver everything that he had learnt to our classmates. We enjoyed to the maximum this experience and learnt a lot about Holland and its culture.
DEBATE CLUB
From october 2019 to february 2019
Location
Rovira i Virgili University
https://goo.gl/maps/k633vgujwuFPHqny9
Hours
29hrs
Description
In the debate club before anything we learn how to speak properly in public. Every week we search topics to discuss and...the debate starts!
Planning
Some of us take one side of the argument and try to support our decision with relevant proves and significant quotes, while the other side has to refute our arguments with more proves, quotes and sometimes we also use digital support, like videos, online articles, pictures…
For this annual debate competition, we had to discuss if the technology increases or not happiness.
Activity Assessment
Although the main point is to learn how to defend ourselves in the stage of the annual debate competition, we also learn how to trust the different members in the debate team, how to express our point of view with confidence and we also gain critical thinking, always useful in the near present and also in the future.
VISITING SHEFFIELD
November 2019
Location
Sheffield UK
https://goo.gl/maps/tKx2XTeD76FohY9y5
Hours
18hrs
Description
My group of friends and I went to Sheffield to visit a friend as well as do some sightseeing. Sheffield is a city and metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire, England. Because our friend is studying at Sheffield University he decided to give us a tour around the University itself and some more important buildings like the Architecture department, St Paul’s Tower or the Wheel of Sheffield. He also explained the dark history of what’s now one of the most important cities in England.
Planning
We had the trip planned months ahead: we searched the best days to fly, we booked the cheapest flights, searched for excursion routes, festivals, hockey matches to see…
For the sleeping over we already had all set up in our friend's house.
Activity Assessment
The fact that we had planned this trip on our own made us realize all the important steps that were obvious for us when we did family trips. All the planning behind each activity were lots of hours reading where are the best restaurants to eat or the best markets to be looking around, reading recommendations in webs and finally booking everything in advance. This trips made me mature in so many ways. Now I feel that I have become more independent and I can plan ahead with more confidence anything that I set my mind into.
YOGA LESSONS
From October 2019 to March 2020
Location
Altafulla Yacht Club
https://g.page/cmaltafulla?share
Hours
21hrs
Description
Strong emotions such as anger and fear are main triggers of stress. Yoga postures and relaxation techniques help counteract the negative consequences of these emotions by improving our hormonal balance, for example our adrenalin levels. Relaxation techniques further fine-tune and harmonise our sense perceptions, so that we don’t overreact in the first place. In our yoga lessons we learn different movements, relaxation techniques and postures that shows us many different ways to overcome our limits.
Planning
What I do in these lessons is follow all the yoga positions that my yoga teacher shows me. Everyday we have at the beginning the same routine with the postures, but as the class advances my teacher shows us new yoga movements.
You only need enthusiasm, a rigid mat and a blanket.
Activity Assessment
Because mental relaxation can lead to a healthy sense of detachment towards the objects and circumstances of our lives. In this way, I can gradually overcome impulsive behaviour and irritability. Various yoga techniques can help me reduce the negative effects of stress and transform it into a positive challenge. I practice yoga for these reasons, the different steps that I learn on Saturdays help me thought my really intense weeks.
STAY FIT IN QUARENTINE
March 2020 to May 2020
Location
Altafulla
https://goo.gl/maps/Ua4xXPTE6KBxLa568
Hours
65hrs
Description
Basically I planned a workout to stay fit in quarantine. It has many different exercises, like squats, push-ups, the bicycle manoeuvre, pull-ups, the lunge, the side bridge, tricep dips, swiss ball hamstring curl…However I own an elliptical machine and some days I run with it instead of doing the exercises because I know that keeping a balance while exercising is crucial.
Planning
For the days that I have my online classes late in the morning I wake up early to do my routine exercises. The exercises came in the beginning from a video I found online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj5nJQ8a3yU&t=3148s) from Cindy Crawford. Although the video has some years the 3 workouts that she presents will never get old. Now I do a combination of the video and my elliptical in order to create my own workout.
For the days that I have early morning online classes I do my routine to stay healthy in the evening.
Activity Assessment
I have learnt what truly perseverance is. Because not everyday the perfect plan in mind was training for an hour, but with a lot of willpower I could do it.

Location
Altafulla
https://goo.gl/maps/Ua4xXPTE6KBxLa568

I learned how to play guitar with my father and sister in this quarantine.
Planning

Because we are beginners we are taking it step by step in order to get used to the instrument and not get bad habits.
Our dad teaches us and we have to do individual practice whenever we can thought the week.
Activity Assessment
While my fingers are burning my spirits are high because learning how to play an instrument is hard and you need patience but every step forward, every chord well played is rewarding enough to don’t give up.
